Commissioned for Menlyn Park Shopping Centre, the installation transformed one of the centre's busiest circulation points into an immersive public experience. Suspended above the escalators and extending more than ten metres in length, it became one of the largest paper art installations realised in the Southern Hemisphere at the time (2015).

The installation was created for Menlyn Park Shopping Centre, transforming one of the busiest circulation routes into a shared public experience.

Rather than decorating the space, the work was positioned above the escalators so visitors moved into it as they ascended. Suspended at an angle, the installation gradually revealed itself, changing with every step.

Drawing on the sculptural qualities of South African flora, thousands of individually constructed paper elements formed a continuous overhead landscape. From the ground it appeared as a single mass. Within it, texture, depth and detail emerged gradually through proximity.

The most rewarding part came once it was installed. People slowed down; it became a gathering point. The installation quickly found a second life through the images visitors shared. The work became part of how people experienced the space, not simply something placed inside it.
