Role: Art Direction • Styling
Developed as an editorial commission featuring an international model, the resulting series explored identity through contradiction, using fashion and gesture as a means of constructing character rather than archetype.
Grace Jones became an early point of reference, less for her appearance than for her ability to embody strength, elegance, and defiance without treating them as opposites.
Each look introduced a different emphasis. Leather brought precision and authority. The abstract netting partially concealed the body while becoming a protective structure in its own right. A gloss cap and cigarette altered the tone once again, suggesting confidence, performance and self-possession.
The white studio removed every unnecessary distraction, allowing gesture, posture and composition to become the primary tools for shaping the series.
